Coming tomorrow! We will start our independent reviews of the environmental coverage in the sustainability reports of the twelve largest container carrier companies in the world: A.P. Moller - MaerskMSC Mediterranean Shipping CompanyCOSCO SHIPPING LinesCMA CGMHapag-Lloyd AGOcean Network ExpressEVERGREEN LINEHMMYang Ming Marine Transport Corp.ZIM Integrated Shipping ServicesPacific International Lines (PTE) Ltd, and Wan Hai Lines. These twelve companies encompass about 85% of the total world container trade.

We will assess the quality of their environmental reporting presented in their sustainability reports; we will not look at other areas such as human resources or governance, since those are not areas of our expertise. We will score them at the scale from 1 (very poor) to 5 (excellent) stars. We will present our findings, starting with the lowest-rated report until we reach the report which we consider the best. Stay tuned!

Note: We will appraise the quality of the companies’ environmental reporting, not the environmental quality of their fleet and operations since that would be a much more demanding endeavor, something to be carried by a large team of experts of a classification society.
